1. MEDICAL DEPARTMENT:

1.1: FREE SURGICAL CAMP:  

The Concluding Function for the “Free Surgical Camp for poor children” was held on 19th April 2019 at our Auditorium.  The function was presided  over by our Chairman, Dr. A.C. Muthiah, while Mr. N. Ram, Chairman, The HINDU Group of Publications was the Chief Guest. Mr. N. Ram gave away Mementoes to the major Donors “Sahachari Foundation” and “United Educational Foundation”, who donated Rs. 30 lakhs each for the above camp. In addition, Mementoes were also presented to all the Contributors, who have made the Camp successful.

In all, 47 children underwent surgery in the Free Surgery Camp at a total cost of Rs. 71.60 lakhs.  The parents of some of the children narrated their experience and profusely thanked our Hospital for the timely help.            Mrs. Devaki Muthiah, Managing Trustee, MAC Medical Foundation presented gifts to all the children who underwent surgery.

1.2: ENHANCEMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY SERVICES: In line with the MOU signed with Rajan Eye Care Hospital Pvt. Ltd. (RECH) on 11TH April 2019, we have commenced extended Ophthalmology Services BY RECH in OPD, as detailed below:

  • All days except Sundays -4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Thursdays – 9 a.m – 7 p.m.

Rajan Eye Care will send their own Ophthalmologist and Optometrist during the above timings.

In continuation to the above, we are planning to start an ‘OPTICAL SHOP’ at our Hospital, which will be organized and managed by RECH.

1.3: CME: Dr. MSR Memorial Endowment CME on “PEDIATRIC INFECTIOUS DISEASES” was conducted on 28th April 2019 at G.R.T. Convention Centre.   Dr. R. Kanthimathi, Member Secretary, Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest. The CME was attended by 150 participants from different parts of the State.  Prior to this CME, OSCE PG Training Programme was conducted at our Auditorium on 26th & 27th April 2019.

2: RESEARCH DEPT:

2.1: SAC MEETING: The Third Meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC)  Meeting of CTMRF & KKCTH was conducted on 22nd April 2019 and the Thesis proposal were discussed and approved after thorough appraisal.

2.2: ETHICS COMMITTEE MEETING: The 11th KKCTH – CTMRF Ethics Committee Meeting was held on 25th April 2019 under the Chairmanship of Justice (Retd.) Dr. A.R. Lakshmanan.  Several Thesis and Proposals were presented to the Committee for approval.  During this meeting, Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal made a presentation requesting us to include their DNB PG Thesis to be reviewed by our Committee.  After discussions, our Ethics Committee has approved their proposal. 

2.3: RESEARCH PROJECTS:

  • Initiation of study sample collection and testing for study entitled “Comparative evaluation of the diagnositc accuracy of dengu NSI ELISA, IgM, PCR and a newly designed LAMP (loop mediated amplification test): A study from a “Pediatric Teaching Hospital in Chennai”- Funded by CTMRF, The Principal Investigator (PI) is Dr.S.Balasubramanian, Medical Director.
  • Approval of CTMRF funding for study entitled “Correlation of serum lactate levels, Perfusion index and Pleth variability index with invasive BP in late preterm and term infants with shock in level III NICU: a prospective observational study – Study by PI- Dr.Chandrakumar, HOD (NICU)
  • Review on “ Non Typeable Haemophilus influenza- under progress

3: PROJECTS:  

The Civil, Electrical, HVAC and Medical Gas Connection works relating to PICU Renovation is progress.  All the Renovation works are expected to be completed by end of June 2019.

4: ACCREDITATION:

4.1: NABH ACCREDITATION: Periodical reviews are being conducted in all  the areas in the Hospital to ensure that the practices are in line with the NABH requirements.  We are also analyzing the Quality Indicator status from time to time.  In line with the requirement of NABH Secretariat, we have submitted the Quality Indicator Statement for the period January to March 2019. As informed earlier, the NABH Accreditation is valid till 23rd Feb. 2022.

4.2: NABL ACCREDITATION: We continue to check the levels of compliance of NABL Standards in all our Laboratories at regular intervals through internal quality Audits and review meetings. The NABL Accreditation is valid till 11th August 2020.

4.3: NURSING EXECLLENCE:  Periodical internal audits are being conducted by the Nursing dept. to ensure the compliance levels of NABH Nursing Certification which is valid till 6th Dec. 2020

4.4: ISO 9001:2015: Even though the Accreditation is valid till 16th April 2021, we are checking the levels of compliance with reference to the standards at periodical intervals.
