Department Of Immunisation
Immunisation is the backbone of any Pediatric Institution. The Immunisation department of our hospital has been functioning since its inception. For the convenience of the public, the department is functional on all weekdays (9 AM – 5 PM) including Sunday (8 AM – 2 PM).
We follow the IAP guidelines and the Immunisation record is handed over to each patient after the scheduled vaccination with an update on the forth coming vaccinations. The parents can call and book an appointment prior to the arrival or can walk in at any time during the scheduled time.
All the vaccines are available at an affordable cost. Counselling regarding any minor side effects, the do’s and don’ts following each Immunisation is done by an experienced staff nurse. Any catchup vaccination which needs to be done is also advised. The vaccine is administered by an experienced staff nurse and vaccines are administered with all safety precautions and the record updated.
Strict Polio Immunisations programmes are conducted regularly yearly under the auspices of Rotary Club, Chennai Branch.
We undertake Adolescent Immunisation also.
Vaccination: Your Key to a Healthier Future
At Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital (A unit of "The CHILDS Trust"), we believe that prevention is better than cure. Immunisation is a powerful, cost-effective method for protecting individuals and communities from life-threatening diseases. India’s success stories in vaccination highlight the immense impact of immunisation programs:
- Polio-Free Nation: India has been proudly polio-free since 2014, a testament to the effectiveness of sustained vaccination efforts.
- Elimination of Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus: Through antenatal maternal tetanus immunisation, we have achieved a significant milestone in safeguarding mothers and newborns.
- Reduced Mortality and Morbidity:Vaccines for diphtheria and pertussis have played a key role in saving lives, with global declines in cases over the past 20 years.
Advancements in Immunisation
Today, combination vaccines enable protection against six diseases with one injection, administered at critical intervals:
- Schedule: 6, 10, 14 weeks with boosters at 18 months, 5 years against as (diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), and polio) and at 10 and 16 years as Td (Tetanus + Diphtheria). Additional vaccines for typhoid, hepatitis A, and varicella strengthen immunity during infancy, while flu vaccines for children under five reduce hospitalisation risks.
Cervical Cancer Vaccines:
A Medical Breakthrough Our hospital recommends cervical cancer vaccines for children aged 9–14 years to prevent this devastating disease. Boys can also benefit, reducing their risk of oral and oropharyngeal cancers.
