CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC

While a lot of focus has been made towards health education, prevention of physical illnesses, provision of adequate nutrition and treatment of diseases, very little attention has been given to the child’s behavioral, emotional and social well being which form the main root of his/her intellectual, educational and social growth. The main aim of the Child Guidance Clinic (CGC) is to address this particular aspect of child health. The Child Guidance Clinic, at the Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital, is a pioneer of its kind in the private sector. Here we use a comprehensive approach in handling children with various developmental disorders [commonly ADHD, Learning Disability (dyslexia) and Autism]. At the CGC there is a patient, detailed and repeated interaction with the child and family. This is followed up with need based evaluation of the child (Developmental assessment, Learning difficulty screening, IQ assessment, Laboratory Investigations). We then offer management options, counseling and drug therapy (where needed). We also give appropriate suggestions regarding special schooling/remedial training.

Developmental and Behavioural assessment is available in:
